GUIDE TO LGBTQ+ TERMS IN FRENCH
This post is an English translation of the key words from the article Mais รงa veut dire quoi, LGBTQIA+ (But what does LGBTIQIA+ mean?) from Liberation Media in France who reference the the association of Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Intersex Journalists
For resources in English I recommend checking out Minus18 (Australia) Gaycentre.org (USA) and Stonewall (UK)
As always, I recommend being brave to asking others what they want, how they like to communicate and listening to their response.
L comme lesbienne.
(L for lesbian)
G comme gay.
(G for gay)
B comme bi.
(B for bisexual)
T comme trans.
(T for transgender)
Q comme queer.
(Q for queer)
I comme intersexe.
(I for intersex)
A comme asexuel.
(A for asexual)
+ comme : et tous les autres
(+ for everyone else: for allies for supporters, for anyone who doesnโt see themselves in these definitions)
So, as you can see the words arenโt so different so there really isnโt anything stopping you from connecting with anyone whatever sexual or gender identity they choose.
