GUIDE TO LGBTQ+ TERMS IN FRENCH

This post is an English translation of the key words from the article Mais รงa veut dire quoi, LGBTQIA+ (But what does LGBTIQIA+ mean?) from Liberation Media in France who reference the the association of Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Intersex Journalists

For resources in English I recommend checking out Minus18 (Australia) Gaycentre.org (USA) and Stonewall (UK)

As always, I recommend being brave to asking others what they want, how they like to communicate and listening to their response.

L comme lesbienne.

(L for lesbian)

G comme gay.

(G for gay)

B comme bi.

(B for bisexual)

T comme trans.

(T for transgender)

Q comme queer.

(Q for queer)

I comme intersexe.

(I for intersex)

A comme asexuel.

(A for asexual)

+ comme : et tous les autres

(+ for everyone else: for allies for supporters, for anyone who doesnโ€™t see themselves in these definitions)

So, as you can see the words arenโ€™t so different so there really isnโ€™t anything stopping you from connecting with anyone whatever sexual or gender identity they choose.
